Mission Statement
Students will receive a strong academic education in a Catholic,
Christian environment that meets their individual needs and talents,
challenging them so that they develop to their full potential.
Philosophy
We acknowledge parents as the primary educators and role models for their children. We see the school as a partner in assisting parents in carrying out their God-given duties.
We develop an educational program within the community to meet each student’s spiritual, mental, and physical developmental needs in faith and academic excellence.
Teachers and parents will work together to meet each individual student’s needs in the educational setting.
We believe that all those involved in Catholic education work together to create a faith-filled school community, enlivened by the Gospel spirit of freedom and love.
Our purpose is to teach as Jesus did:
Our History
Holy Rosary School opened its doors on September 1, 1952. The original building (called a brick cottage) was once the home to the Central Weselyan Orphan Home. The school was originally staffed by the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood from O’Fallon, Missouri.
As the school grew in the 1970’s, the school was periodically remodeled to accommodate the parish school, convent, chapel, and meeting hall. Even though what is currently referred to as the “Activity Center” and basement were built in 1979 (to accommodate parish activities and events that the school could use as classrooms), by 1980, they were out of space. There became an increasing need and desire by the community to build a new school. 1n 1982 a gentleman by the name of Robert Saxe left his estate to Holy Rosary for the sole purpose to finance a new school. The school was completed in September of 1985. The school was dedicated on October 6, 1986.
During the 1991-92 school year, Holy Rosary said goodbye to the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood. The replace them, a sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet was hired as principal with a full lay staff. She was the school’s last consecrated religious principal.
In the Spring of 2002, a wing was completed on the school which houses the Family Center consisting of the gymnasium, concession stand and stage as well as a Library, Preschool room and Kindergarten room.
The school has had the blessing of having many exceptional educators, leaders and priests dedicated to the school’s academic growth, faith formation, and building a culture of a unified family. The school is rooted in Gospel values, teaching and living the virtues, and an authentic Catholic, Christian community where students are called to the best versions of themselves. Through personal growth and a servant heart, we are proud to be Holy Rosary School!
Today, Holy Rosary also has a preschool program and works with Warren County schools to provide special education and gifted programs to our students. Our Athletic Association, the School Board, PTO and the Finance Council are significant contributors to the school’s success. We are also proud to partner with the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation and the Parish Assistance Program supported by Holy Rosary Parish to provide our school families with over $200,000 a year in Scholarships. We currently have 146 students in Preschool-8th Grade.
